Under the Table, 2012

“Our government employees work on their own terms & also abuse the system for their benefits. Similarly, Under the table is a direct way of getting our work done through the government officials.

The irony here is that most people aspire to get government jobs. It’s not the pension, more public holidays, less working hours or the other perks which attract our aam janta (common man) to get government jobs. It’s the extra money they make! Police officers, politicians, etc. always want to be in a department with the most profits. This is possible only through an under-the-table arrangement.

Tragically an educated person, an eligible bachelor with a secured future; but he still has to give something UNDER THE TABLE to get that job. And we the people. We prefer getting things done quickly. And if we follow procedure, the work would never gets done!”
